Northern Iowa small town stabbing leads to arrest of suspect

WHITTEMORE, IOWA – Two men engaged in combat in this Northern Iowa hamlet, with one allegedly producing a knife and attempting to fillet his opponent, leading to slices and charges.

On April 26, 2025, at about 9:44 PM, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an altercation between two males within the 400 block of Broad Street in Whittemore, Iowa. A male victim had been stabbed by a knife and the suspect had fled the area on foot. Deputies responded from the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office and were assisted by the Palo Alto Sheriff’s Office, the Algona Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.

After gathering information and statements, and by dispatch being able to gather information from video surveillance, it was determined the suspect male was still in the area. Officers and K-9 located and arrested 27-year-old Yoni Angulo Antonio, of West Bend, Iowa. He was taken to the Kossuth County Jail and charged with:

• Public Intoxication, a simple misdemeanor

• Disorderly Conduct, a simple misdemeanor

• Assault w/ Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor

The victim in this case was taken to Kossuth Regional Health Center and was treated and released.

Whittemore and Kossuth County EMS had also responded to assist.
