Robbery, shooting lead to arrest of 5 Waterloo teens

WATERLOO – Five people were arrested by Waterloo police Sunday night after officers responded to a robbery and shooting at a local park.

gunAccording to police, on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at approximately 10:05 PM, Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue were dispatched to Gates Park, 200 block Lester Street, on report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found that a 17-year-old male had been shot in the leg. The investigation revealed that the victim and his father were at Gates Park to purchase an I-pad from a subject. While sitting in their vehicle with the subject, they were approached by several black males who ordered them out of their vehicle, robbed them of their money and shot the juvenile in the leg.

The follow-up investigation lead to the arrest of five suspects for Robbery in the First Degree and Willful Injury.

Arrested were:

Al Campbell, age 15, of 2405 E. 4th Street, Waterloo
Devin Thoummany Byrd, age 17, of 3313 Ellington Street, Waterloo
Quintorey Farshawn D’quan Kemp, age 16, of 1687 Woodmayr Drive, Waterloo
Devon Lee Martin, age 17, of 223 Webster Street, Waterloo

A search was conducted at 223 Webster Street where officers recovered a 9MM handgun and a .22 caliber revolver used in the robbery.
