MASON CITY – Police were called late Thursday to a south side location on a report of an illegally parked vehicle only to discover an underage drinking party.
According to a report, a disturbance was reported to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office Thursday just before midnight at 16169 245th Street in rural Mason City. Four officers went to the location to check on an illegally parked vehicle. Upon arrival, officers discovered an underage drinking party. Several subjects were issued citations; several juvenile referrals were also made.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals, charges may be pending. “It looks like there will be charges on some for under drinking or consumption … but the report is not completed.”
“Several subjects took off running when the deputy arrived,” Sheriff Pals updated on Sunday morning. “After further investigation it appeared the parking issue was directly related to an underage alcohol party. The following were charged with minor consumption. Others were present but were not charged due to no probable cause they consumed alcohol. Everyone charged is from Mason City.”
