MASON CITY – A woman was hospitalized after speeding eastbound on Highway 122 toward Mason City and crashing just east of Clear Lake.
At about 12:30 PM Saturday, Clear Lake authorities received calls of a reckless driver headed eastbound.
Soon after, the 62 year-old female subject crashed her car into power a power pole, bringing the power lines down.
The woman was transported by Mason City ambulance to Mercy Hospital with an unknown medical issue. No charges were filed in the incident.
A witness said, “She was headed west when she passed us, going real fast, hugging the shoulder of the road, that’s when she went down into the ditch, hit a do not enter sign, turned around and started heading east, back at us, in our lane. Everybody got out of her way and just let her go because she was back and forth between lanes and sometimes she was in the middle of the lane. That’s when we called 911.”

Wow the way some of you talk it makes me sick. It’s funny when your young 62 seems so old but when you are in your in your 40’s 62 doesn’t seem so old. Do you have any idea how many YOUNG people cause accidents? A lot more teens than people in there 60’s I am sure. I just hope the woman is ok. I love how kids talk about old people when someday if they are lucky they will be old. Funny can’t argue that one can you. Hahahahaha can’t say you’ll never get old unless you die young think about it the next time you make a comment about an old person.
I pray that when you get older, you realize what foolish comments you made about a woman who had a medical issue.
In that time, one hopes you:
#1 learn to appreciate that she did not die, or take other lives.
#2 Medical issues happen more than you seem to be aware of. They may be one offs, or signs of more serious problems. It could happen to you tomorrow.
Don’t they teach the concept of humility in the schools here like they used to (it used to be a virtue)? Or is the concept as foreign as the requirements of U.S. citizenship?
ds, seriously? You think 62 is elderly? I don’t plan on calling myself “elderly” until I’m at least 85. You have a lot to learn.
Maybe her GPS said, “Make a U-Turn.”
I’m a little surprised at you, Katie. I didn’t think you were the type to make light of a situation that could have been very serious. She could have been having a stroke, a diabetic reaction, or even a brain aneurism. I just hope she’s okay.
@JMO: I had already posted my serious opinion on this matter. I don’t take it lightly at all. All of a sudden it just struck me that those crazy “bitches in a box” say the darnedest things at the darnedest times and I couldn’t resist injecting that comment. Sorry if it offended you. I could not suppress my wicked sense of humor…..
Thanks for the explanation. I have to admit my GPS has led me on some wild goose chases.
just another elderly driver… happens all over there more dangerous than drunks
They’re better at spelling than you though.
HAHAHAHA Good one. And to ds: 62-year old drivers aren’t usually poor drivers yet. It’s the 75-100-year old ones you need to watch out for. I’m sure they ran a tox screen on this woman once she was admitted. If we don’t see her name on the scandal sheet, it was a medical problem, not drugs or alcohol. The EMT’s were probably able to tell it was a medical problem at the scene by tests, signs, and responses. It could have been hypoglycemia. That comes on very quickly and can be quite disorienting.
Just another elderly driver with a drivers license and insurance. Something you know nothing about. 62 is not old. She is young enough to still pay taxes to support you, you piece of crap.
amen
Medical issues my ass, it was 5 O’clock somewhere.
