Stock resigns from Hampton City Council

HAMPTON – Councilman Ryan Stock has resigned from the Hampton City Council.

In a resignation letter read by Mayor Shawn Dietz, Stock said that he resigned so that he can look for a job outside of Hampton.

Stock (pictured, third from left) had faced criticism in recent weeks over his May 24, 2012 arrest and subsequent charge of harassment.

Stock did not attend the council meeting.

Asked for comment, Mayor Dietz said “Ryan needed to step aside for himself and for the citizens he was elected to represent. Following this distracting series of events, the citizens of Hampton’s first ward can begin to look forward, as can the Council, and Mr. Stock can turn his focus back to himself.  I wish Ryan all the best in his future.”
