MASON CITY – A second assault within a week has been reported at a Mason City rental property.
NIT reported earlier this week that an assault with an injury was reported on July 12th at 410 North Penn. Avenue but the male and female at the address claimed no assault had taken place. Sources indicated to NIT that after the incident, a woman requested to be taken to Mercy Hospital, complaining of a cut on her leg and a sore throat. No charges were filed after the incident.
Just days later, on July 18th, another assault was reported at the same address.
According to police, a female reported that Kenneth Shaun Neilsen, 30, assaulted her on July 18th, 2013 around 10 am at 410 N Penn. Avenue. Neilsen was arrested for felony Domestic Assault involving airway restriction (strangulation).
Police did not immediately confirm a connection between the two incidents.
Neilsen is being held at this time on no bond until he is seen by a judge.
Court records show Neilson has twice been convicted of domestic abuse assault.

Officers were dispatched to location for a verbal domestic. Spoke to both parties, both parties left the residence.

I know this guy. It is a shame because he is a really bright guy. The problem is he has a terrible temper and one of these days he will kill someone. I thought he had moved out of Mason city and was living in Swaledale or somewhere like that. He used to live in Northwood but ended up in jail there too.
