“Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” event held Tuesday in Clear Lake

An event to raise awareness for domestic and sexual abuse, male community leaders and citizens come out to show support by walking in women’s high-heel shoes.

This year between the mason City and Clear Lake event they expect about 100 people to come out and walk, though they believe todays event turn out was lower because of the weather.

Clear Lake Chief of police started off the event by making a quick speech. Stating that 1 in 6 women are affected and calls are received on a weekly basis

After the event, the microphone was opened up to anyone who would like to comment on why they came out. One woman said she came out because her daughter was sexually abuse by her biological father.

The Mason City event will be tomorrow, April, 27 at Noon in Central Park.
