CLEAR LAKE – At a small gathering at Clear Lake’s Cabin Coffee on Friday, three women expressed their support for Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.  The event was arranged by the Romney-Ryan campaign.

Three women spoke on camera of their support for Mitt Romney: Sandy Blodgett of Clear Lake; Emily Schmitt of Clear Lake and Allissa Ohl of Cedar Rapids who also works for the Romney campaign.

Sandy Blodgett brought prepared remarks and said that Romney “is a true gentleman and dedicated Christian.”  She also said that President Barrack Obama “has racked up a $5 trillion deficit” and that President Obama is “not trustworthy … and continually squanders money that is not his to waste.”

Emily Schmitt said that “I, as a young woman, really support the Ryan and Romney campaign.  They are not just  glossing over with cliches, they are actually talking about specifics and what they will do in the next four years.”

Allissa Ohl said that “I think those are all great points.”  She also said that Congressman Paul Ryan clearly won the Thursday night debate with Vice President Joe Biden.  “We can only hope,” she said, “that other women for Mitt understand the economic reasons to vote this coming November.”

Romney is against woman? Oh please give me a break is that the best you can do? Good thing you have t.v. so you can parrot the talking points.
Romney is rich-don’t we all want to be rich? What did you do to try to become wealthy? Screw around in school, drop out, smoke a little weed or maybe do a little blow? As for the 47%, who is it that created this number? I would be pissed at that person unless you enjoy your working neighbor paying for your government freebees. Free to you but someone has to pay for it. Finally why would you, without personal knowlege, say Mormans are not Christian? Have you read their tenets? I have and they are not much different from other Christian churches, Catholics included.

Good thing greed is not a sin in the Morman religion.

Interesting word, greed. I would rather have a Romney as a president, a man who obviously knows how to handle his money, invest, and prosper as an American. I do not worry so much about what Romney does with his money but what I am greatly concerned about is what Obama has done with my money. I wonder if some people should change their outlook.

Do you realize that Romney only KEPT 42.1% of his income last year? Do The rest went to taxes and charity. Would you be willing to give up that much of your income? He didn’t HAVE to give anything to charity. Now THAT would be greedy. He actually gave more to charity than he used as a tax deduction. How in the heck can you call him greedy? Would you only be happy if he gave up ALL of his income? What would make you happy? Huh? Should no one even bother to pursue the American dream? I call you ENVIOUS. And THAT is also a sin.

Gary Blodgett is plenty smart, Party, and he knew what he was doing when he endorsed Dougherty.

Hey anonymous how do you know them ladies cant be good for business. Least there not looking for handouts.

At least this Blodgett has more smarts!!
Surprised she didn’t cross party lines and endorse Obama like her husband did Dougherty

He’s not wrong on any count. Romney IS mormon. What is that but weird. He is rich beyond measure and certainly can’t stand the middle guy. Romney lovers, You know how you can hardly stand Obama and the likes who are for him, that is exactly what Romney thinks of the middle class man. Too much to be bothered with. He simply loves getting richer. That’s how republicans roll always have and always will.
Even Blodgett isn’t in Romney’s class so you might want to think again. Anyone in Mason City for that matter.

DITTO!!! Romney spoke his true feelings when he said he didn’t care about half of us. This jerk will divide this country beyond repair. If you don’t make well over $250,000 a year and aren’t a white male…You would be masochistic to vote for this guy!

Why would it be so bad to vote for Romney? He has no intentions of raising taxes on people under $250,000. Obama does. Romney plans on closing loopholes on people with higher incomes. Average incomes have decreased by several thousand dollars under Obama. Do you want to continue that trend for another 4 years? I sure don’t. Our national debt has gone up from $10 trillion to $15 trillion under Obama in just 4 years. That is obscene. He has done nothing positive to become less dependent on foreign oil other than give $90 billion to his campaign contributors who took the money and went bankrupt. We have more windmills that people hate and that are killing birds by the thousands or more. Big deal. You can’t fill your gas tanks with windmills, Don Quixote. Someone needs to spank Congress and actually CHANGE something instead of just talking about it.

So you think all Republicans are rich and disdain anyone who isn’t? LMAO. I know people who are dirt poor and are Republicans. Party affiliation has to do with a lot more factors than how much money you have.
As for the 47%, Romney was talking about not caring about their votes, not the people themselves. He was talking about strategies for winning the election and he figured that 47% of people who were getting entitlements would not be voting for him. He was wrong. He should have lowered that percentage to exclude some people getting EARNED benefits. But he is probably correct that he cannot get more than 53% of the total vote.
Romney is rich and he probably does NOT relate well to the middle class because we all tend to socialize with people in our own economic stratus. I don’t hang out with rich people like Romney and I don’t hang out with homeless people. That doesn’t mean I don’t care about them and it doesn’t mean that Romney doesn’t care about people in lower social classes just because he has done well. You are expressing extremely social class bias with your remarks and I think that is unfair.
Whether you like it or not, Mormons are Christians. Their religion is no more quirky than any other Christian religion. There are some that expect you to believe you are actually drinking Christ’s blood and eating his flesh when you take communion. Ya, right.

Katie, Sorry but Mr. Romney does plan on raising the amount of taxes those who earn under $250,000 pay. His plan is to do away with loopholes that benefit many of us who earn under that amount including the mortgage deduction. By the time he eliminates all those minor loopholes, our taxes will be up. He isn’t looking at eliminating the big loopholes, such as inheritance tax and capital gains taxes, because those directly benefit the super-rich.

Bod: He never said he planned to take away the mortgage deduction or other loopholes for the middle class – those under $250,000. If he did, find that statement for me.

Joe is wrong as can be. These women are not idiots, they are worried for our country. Get the socialist out of there before he ruins everything.

Well that group can’t be good for business.

Emily Schmitt said it best. The last 4 years have been a disaster. A financial disaster.

Women for Romney??? Can you say…IDIOTS! He is against women’s rights and the middle class. He is a mormon, NOT a christian. Obama’s deficit is due to cleaning up the Republican’s messes… bail-outs, wars and trying to rebound the economy.

So you don’t think Mormons are Christians? Be careful about whom you call idiots! You’re a couple gyri short of a cortex.

Joe, wrong on all counts.
