Missing truck driver David Schultz found deceased in Northern Iowa field

SAC COUNTY - The 5-month saga of the search for missing Iowa truck driver David Schultz ended Wednesday when his remains were located in a Northern Iowa farm field.

SAC COUNTY – The 5-month saga of the search for missing Iowa truck driver David Schultz ended Wednesday when his remains were located in a Northern Iowa farm field.

Shortly before 2:00 PM on April 24, 2024, the Sac County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an individual who reported he discovered a body in his field.

The body was found near the intersection where the semi of missing person David Schultz (pictured at top) was located in November 2023. The body is being transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for a forensic autopsy.

No further details were released, but his wife, Sarah, has told news outlets that the remains found are that of her missing husband, David Schultz.

The details surrounding his disappearance and death have yet to be sorted out.

UPDATE:

The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner conducted a forensic autopsy on the body discovered in Sac County on April 24, 2024. The body has been positively identified through dental records as that of 53-year-old David Schultz of Wall Lake, Iowa.

Schultz was located in a farm field in the 1900 block of Union Ave. in Sac County. Preliminary autopsy results show no signs of trauma or serious injury. Further autopsy test results are pending.

Authorities do not suspect foul play in the death of Schultz.
