Eugene A. Maifeld, 97, of Allison, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Trinity Reformed Church in Allison.

Eugene A. Maifeld, 97, of Allison, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2024, at Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. Eugene will be laid to rest at the Allison Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home of Allison is caring for Eugene and his family.

Eugene Albertus Maifeld was born January 19, 1927, in Butler County, Iowa, to J. Henry and Grace (Harms) Maifeld. He was baptized at Washington Reformed Church in rural Ackley and gave his life to Christ. Eugene attended Madison Township country school in Butler County.

On February 24, 1949, Eugene was united in marriage to Deloris Krull in Dumont, Iowa. They farmed by Kesley for two years and Allison for five years before buying the farm near Shell Rock, where they farmed for 45 years retiring to Allison in 1999.

Eugene was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Allison, where he served as a deacon and usher. He also went on a mission trip. Eugene served on the board of Butler County Farm Bureau and Extension Council.

Eugene loved fishing and making things from old boards. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the elevator and later in his home, when the elevator closed. Some of Eugene‘s best memories were spent around his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and anyone who was blessed enough to have learned to fish from him.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 75 years, Deloris Maifeld of Allison; daughters Janelle (Tim) Archer of Ankeny and Jennifer (Steve) Heeren of Allison; daughter-in-law Judy Maifeld of Sumner; grandchildren: Tanner (Emily) Archer of Ankeny, Crystal (Mark) Vance of Ames, Ashley (Kip) Fulton of Ankeny, Stacy Flynn of Sigourney, Danielle (Drew) Bahlmann of Sigourney, Megan (Jason) Kirke of State Center, and Tyler (Wendi) Maifeld of Sumner; great grandchildren: Jayda, Nadia and Titus Archer; Owen, Avery and Reid Vance; Connor and Michael Fulton; Rex, Luke, and Macy Flynn; Ella and Clara Bahlmann; Mya and Zane Kirke; and Madison and Levi Maifeld; sisters Maxine Krull of Clarksville and Kathleen Stoppelmoor of Clarksville; brother-in-law James Turner of Rockwell; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Randall Maifeld; brother Orville Maifeld; in-laws Carl and Jennie Krull; sisters-in-law Sharon Turner and Malacia Maifeld; and brothers-in-law Gerald Krull and Vern Stoppelmoor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Eugene.
