Mason City woman charged with willful injury in connection with bar assault
MASON CITY – Lynn Ann Koffot, 39, of Mason City, has been arrested and charged with willful injury (Iowa code 708.4) in connection with an assault at a local bar this weekend.
The victim, who Mason City police named as Amy Arndt, 37, was transported to Mercy Hospital via ambulance after, according to witness accounts, Kofoot approached Arndt at the Sidewinder Bar this weekend, drug her to the floor by her hair, kicked her in the face, and then proceeded to smash a beer bottle into her head.

Kofoot was booked Monday morning at 2:48 AM and transported to the county jail.
Kofoot says on her Facebook page that she works at the Globe Gazette.
SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

It sounds to me as if both of these women need treatment for alcoholism and anger management. Why aren’t you friends trying to help these two women with these problems? They clearly need help and support if they have both had their children taken away. Instead of talking tough on here, why don’t you have heart-to heart talks with them about how they are living their lives and the paths they have chosen. If you don’t, you aren’t very good friends.

I hope you had a momentary lapse of judgment when you composed this comment, otherwise your as stupid as the one arrested. Closing this bar will not stop people from acting childish and vicious. If it did, then close all the damn bars in Mason City, especially that dive Sportmans on North Federal. I know for a fact that place is trouble, and just a few years ago someone torched the place. This woman should go to jail for a long time, pay her victim’s medical expenses and take anger management courses…and a public apology as well.

It should not matter who did what to who! Someone was assaulted. I guess I do not care what part of town this happened in,or if it was a female or male that did the assaulting. Pay attention, jackwad. I’ve noticed comments about both have been deleted. However, the majority of the negative posts about Amy were posted from the same IP address, showing that theres one person who obviously has a problem with her, so the slanderous remarks were removed.

I consider myself to be a very nice and caring person, as well as a good mother, yet I like to go to bars to meet with friends. While I’m there, I watch my friends’ backs, as well as my own. If ANYONE threatens or disrespects my loved ones, admittingly, my niceness goes right out the window. If I were to injure someone, I would feel horrible…provoked or not. There’s no way I’d hit someone from behind, though. This is not a matter of who goes where to socialize. It’s not a matter of who sleeps with who. It is a matter of maliscious intent…on two levels. 1)The actual physical attack & 2)The attempts to slaughter the character of someone who was the VICTIM in this assault. Interesting that the video probably would show a different story. I guarantee had Amy been the instigator, the fight would have been a fair one, not an attack from behind. And unless you were THERE, it would probably be a good idea to keep your mouths shut.

Wow…. I’d be so proud to call her my mom, NOT. I was not there so I couldn’t say one way or another if Amy did or did not say anything. I did have friends that were there that night and said that Amy never said one word to the woman or her daughter. No. The city is not going to shut this bar down. We have problems that are few and far between because of the good people we have come in there. This is very sad and a relatively isolated incident. The police even commented that as busy as we are, it’s a rare occurrence that they have to respond to an incident related to violence. We are proud of our bar and love that we do have such a fun, and mostly drama free environment. We intend to keep it that way.
