Missy D. Huling, 65, of Garner passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. Scott Kozisek officiating. Inurnment will be in Concord Township Cemetery with the last call and page for Missy by the Clear Lake Fire Department.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 21st at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St. in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Clear Lake Fire Department, GHV Wrestling Program, Hancock County Fair or God’s Pantry in memory of Missy.

Missy Diane Huling, daughter of Donald and Diane (Carlson) Schroeder, was born on January 22, 1961, in Clarion. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1979 and pursued further education in retail management at DMACC in Ankeny. Following her studies, Missy relocated to Garner, where she managed the Ben Franklin Store for one year before purchasing and operating it for sixteen years. On November 27, 1982, Missy married Mark Huling at First Lutheran Church in Clarion. The couple made their home in Garner, residing in the same house since 1987. Missy dedicated 25 years of volunteer service to the Garner Ambulance Service and was a founding member of the Clear Lake Fire Department, serving as an EMT for 20 years before retiring in July 2025. Missy had a passion for traveling, quilting, gardening, and photography, particularly capturing moments for the GHV wrestling team and motorcross events. She treasured her time with family and expressed profound joy in being able to deliver her granddaughter, Hayzel, at the hospital. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for two generations of students.

Missy is survived by her husband, Mark, of Garner; two children, Tyson (Laura) Huling of Soldotna, AK and Mataya Huling and her daughter, Hayzel of Garner; a brother, Steve Schroeder of Johnson City, TX; a sister, Charlie Hammel (special friend, Bill Brown) of Floris, IA; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
