Shannon Miller Sr., age 50, of Lake Mills, IA, passed away at his home on Monday, February 23, 2026.
A memorial visitation for Shannon will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Truman Helgeson Civic Center, 227 W. Main St. Lake Mills, IA 50450.
Shannon Matthew Miller was born on May 19, 1975 in San Francisco, CA to parents Donald and Barbara (Wheat) Miller. He moved often as a child, but settled in Denver, CO, where he graduated high school. Following his schooling, he stayed in the area and worked in the construction industry. In his younger years, he was even in a local biker club in the Denver, CO, area.
While in Denver, Shannon met the love of his life, Lisa Roche. The couple met at The Shuffle Inn where he was employed as a bouncer and also ran the kitchen. He was blessed to welcome her son, Matthew, into his life. Later, the couple was blessed with two children of their own, Marisa and Shannon Jr. Eventually, the family moved to Garner, IA for a short period of time before settling in Lake Mills, IA in 2017. He spent a short time working for Winnebago Industries before his health forced him to retire.
Shannon enjoyed many things in life. One favorite pastime was cooking large pots of green chili. His house was always decorated for Halloween, and he loved to set off fireworks every Fourth of July. Family BBQ’s were always a fun memory, where there were usually songs by the Grateful Dead playing in the background. Shannon always cheered for the Denver Broncos, watching as many games as he could, with his emotional support dog, Arty, on his lap. Sadly, Arty passed away just a month ago.
He is preceded in death by both parents, Donald and Barbara Miller; father in-law, William “Bill” Roche; and a sister in-law, Denise (Roche) Whitehurst.
Surviving Shannon include his wife, Lisa Roche; children, Matthew Jeffries, Marisa Miller, and Shannon Miller Jr.; four grandchildren; mother in-law, Doris Roche; a brother in-law, William “Billy” Roche” sister in-law Teresa Roche as well as several extended relatives and friends.
