Dolores Ann Brunsvold Hanna, 95, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus and joined her loved ones in Heaven on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Manly Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 1pm Monday February 16, 2026 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401 with Chaplain Jani Dahlin of St. Croix Hospice officiating. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Dolores Ann Payne was born on February 8, 1931, in Hanlontown, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle Ellis and Opal Emma (Christensen) Payne. She grew up in the Hanlontown area and graduated from Hanlontown High School in 1948. On February 27, 1949, Dolores married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Brunsvold, at the United Methodist Church in Mason City. They farmed on the family farm in rural Hanlontown and later moved to a farm near Joice which is still run by their son-in-law, Paul. Their children are David (Dianne) Brunsvold of Richmond, MN and Diane (Paul) Anderson of Joice; grandchildren, Amy (Bart) Brunsvold-Hellemans of Norway, Matt (Beatrice) Brunsvold of Prescot Valley, AZ, Trisha (Matt) Shields of Belton, MO, Nathan (Vicki) Anderson of Center Point, IA; great grandchildren, Preston Brunsvold, Oscar and Ella Petersen, Madison and Kaitlyn Shields, Devin, Sienna, Kaiyla and Aliyah Anderson and Kyra, Ashlyn and Sydney White.
Dolores first resided in the Lake Mills Nursing home in Lake Mills, IA, being named resident of the year. She played the piano and entertained the residents with her piano playing and singing. Music was an important part of her life, taking piano lessons from the time she was five years old, until she graduated from high school and teaching others well into her 70’s. She played the trombone in the band, and was named the Band Festival Queen for Hanlontown in 1948. She played 6 on 6 basketball during high school in Hanlontown. For many years, she worked as a DJ at KCMR radio, and always aspired to be a music teacher. For some time she sold Tupperware, and also worked as a home health aide for Worth County for many years.
Dolores will be remembered for her musical talent, strong work ethic, and the genuine care she showed to others throughout her life. Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always remembering them on their birthdays, special events and Christmas.
Dolores married Reuben Hanna on May 29, 2011 and added Reuben’s seven children to her family. She enjoyed the years that they spent together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Brunsvold; husband, Rueben Hanna; Robert Hanna; and an infant grandchild, Emily Brunsvold.
