MASON CITY – The fancy new headquarters for the Mason City Fire Department is complete and ready to be shown off this weekend at an open house, and officials are reminding residents that batteries can cause structure fires.
At the Tuesday, October 7 city council meeting, members of our 2nd Battalion, along with Chief Bullinger and Assistant Deputy Chief Elsbernd were in attendance to accept the Fire Prevention Week Proclamation (pictured at top via City of Mason City, with Mayor Bill Schickel).
“We appreciate the continued support in highlighting the importance of Fire Prevention Week and the fire safety message we share with our community,” the fire department said after the meeting.
This year’s theme — “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home” — reminds everyone to BUY, CHARGE, and RECYCLE safely when using lithium-ion batteries. ⚡
“We’re excited to continue spreading this message throughout the week and invite everyone to join us for our Fire Prevention Open House on Sunday, October 12, from 12–3 PM at the fire station! Enjoy live demonstrations, kid-friendly activities, and hands-on fire safety fun.”
