Carl L. “Sonny” Grimm, age 94, of Osage, died Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Scenic Living Communities in Iowa Falls. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at Hoff Celebrations – Champion Chapel, Osage.

Carl L. “Sonny” Grimm, age 94, of Osage, died Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Scenic Living Communities in Iowa Falls.

Carl L. “Sonny” Grimm was born April 18, 1931, in Bonair, IA, to John and Edna Mae (Bonette) Grimm. He attended Mitchell High School until 1947. Sonny served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force, he was an engine mechanic. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On January 12, 1952, he married Bonnie Adams in St. Ansgar. Sonny worked for Davidson Gas and Electric for ten years, for Standard Oil for 15 years, and then for Thermogas, eventually becoming plant manager. He retired in 1989. Sonny was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Osage American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and golfing.

Sonny had a friendly personality. He would strike up conversations with anyone he met. He enjoyed reminiscing with his family, sharing many stories about times spent with his siblings. He was a man of integrity and kindness, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 73 years, Bonnie Grimm of Osage; daughter, Laurie (Bruce) Jeffries of Iowa Falls; granddaughters, Michelle (George) Kruse, Nichole (Doug) Jorges and their children Layton Jorges and Kayleigh Jorges, all of Iowa Falls; Cathy (Marty) Shogren of Ackley, Stacy (Jeff) Mulford and Kirk (Jen) Jeffries of Iowa Falls; with a combination of 22 grand and great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings, Ileen Mostek, Dottie Counsel, Roger Grimm, Betty Ward; half siblings, Marge Olson, Shirley (Dick) Frank and many nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Foster “Curley” Grimm, Willard Grimm, John “Jake” Grimm Jr., Gladys Garrison, Gerald “Jiggs” Grimm, Robert Grimm, and Charles “Chuck” Grimm.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at Hoff Celebrations – Champion Chapel, Osage. Inurnment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell.

Hoff Celebrations – Champion Chapel of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
