A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 16th Cemetery in Thornburg, Iowa, with her daughter, Pastor Christy Ehrle, officiating. Sharon Rose was born June 1, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Millard and Marilyn (May) McKay. She graduated from Waterloo High School and later attended beauty school.
Sherry was united in marriage to David Cisna, and together they raised three children. After 17 years of marriage, Sherry and David parted ways, and Sherry fully devoted herself to raising her children with love and dedication.
Sherry’s creativity and passion for flowers led her to a fulfilling career as a floral designer at Koch’s Greenhouse in What Cheer, Iowa. Later, she worked at Whirlpool Amana, where she remained until her retirement.
A compassionate and selfless soul, Sherry relocated to San Antonio, Texas, to care for her brother Steve during a health crisis. As her own health needs changed, she journeyed with her son to Missouri, Salt Lake City, and independently to Illinois before ultimately settling in Clear Lake, Iowa, to be near family.
Sherry found joy in the simple things: gardening, canning, and flowers—a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She had a gift for making new friends wherever she went and found immense joy in welcoming others with warmth and kindness. Her home always had an extra seat at the table. In her later years, she became a woman of deep faith. Sherry cherished worship and found strength in her spiritual life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and the many friends who became like family.
Sherry is survived by her children Christy (Gary) Ehrle of Clear Lake, IA, Craig Cisna of Bakers City, OR, Cynthia “Cindy” (Daniel) Stolte, of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Michele (Chris) Hotz, Aaron (Christina) Ruggles, Amanda (Jared) Bain, Jennifer (Casey) Aldrich and Michael Becker; 7 Great-Grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Marilyn McKay, brothers Noel “Mickey” McKay and Steven McKay.
