OBIT: Veronica C. Lawlor

Veronica Lawlor, 89, passed away on Friday March 14, 2025 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday March 27, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Veronica Lawlor, 89, passed away on Friday March 14, 2025 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday March 27, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave S, Clear Lake, IA 504028, with Reverend Josh Link officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery, Britt, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Veronica Lawlor.

Veronica Chizek was born August 10, 1935 to Joseph and Ella (Buckley) Chizek. Veronica graduated from Britt High School in 1952. After graduation she worked at a bank in Mason City before attending airline school in Omaha Nebraska. After completing her studies in Omaha, she gained employment with United Airlines. She started with the airline in San Francisco, CA and in 1957 she transferred to Washington, DC.

Veronica met William “Bill” Lawlor while in DC and they were married at St Patrick Catholic Church in Britt on September 10, 1968. Veronica and Bill loved to travel. They traveled to Japan and many places in Europe including Ireland, the home country of her mother’s family. Cruises were one of their favorite modes of travel. They cruised to many places including Alaska and the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal cruise was Veronica’s favorite of their excursions. In 1990 Veronica and Bill moved from the East Coast to Clear Lake, Iowa so they could be close to her sisters and brother.

Those surviving Veronica are her loving husband, William, her sister Margie Jano, and numerous nieces and nephews. Veronica was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Virgil Chizek, her sisters Rosella Daniels, Kay Pistek, Irene Hiscocks, Rita Stevenson, brothers-in-law Lester Daniels, Leonard Pistek, SR, William Hiscocks, John Stevenson, John Lawlor, Steve Jano and sisters-in-law Dorothy Chizek and Dolores Lawlor.
