Charles City Noon Kiwanis Scholarship Fund established for Charles City High School graduates

Kiwanis 2 2013CHARLES CITY – The Floyd County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, announces that the Charles City Noon Kiwanis Scholarship Fund has been established to grant one-year scholarships to graduates of Charles City High School.

The scholarship fund was started with a gift left to the Kiwanis organization by Clyde Smith, longtime Kiwanis member. As current Kiwanians remembered Clyde, they cited his big heart, generous spirit, and willingness to donate his time and talents. Clyde and his wife, Sophie, never had children of their own, but are able to help youth for generations to come with scholarships awarded from this endowment fund.

A $500 scholarship will be available each year for a selected student from the Charles City High School who will be attending an accredited university, junior college or trade school and who demonstrates the abilities to successfully complete the requirements of the institution chosen. Application deadlines will be announced in the future.

To ensure and increase the impact of this scholarship fund, donations can be added to the fund online at www.floydccf.org or by calling 319-287-9106 for more information. As a fund included in a community foundation that meets national standards, any Iowa resident who donates to this fund is eligible to apply for the Endow Iowa 25% state tax credit.
