5 Up and Coming Areas to Buy a Vacation Home

A vacation home can be a great asset, not only as a monetary investment, but as a place to take relaxing family breaks, celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other occasions, or simply to take time away by yourself. Whether you stay close to Iowa or buy a place on the other side of the world, a vacation home will no doubt bring you many years of joy. Here are some up and coming areas that are a little off the beaten track that you may not have considered before.

  • Brazil

If you’re considering a vacation home south of the border, then you’re probably picturing Mexico, but Brazil has some fantastic deals to be had. Prices are low due to a weak currency, so your dollar goes further, and there are amazing cities along the coast such as the lively, colorful Rio de Janeiro, where you get a mixture of a modern city, historic architecture, and beach resorts in one place. You can fly to Rio de Janeiro via Houston from Des Moines airport, so it’s easy to take a vacation when you like.

  • Egypt

While the Middle East is a popular spot for vacation homes, many people overlook Egypt in favor of vacation homes in Dubai or Istanbul. However, if you want a vacation spot that’s a little further afield, then buying real estate Egypt through Capital Real Estate is an excellent way to enjoy this ancient and exotic land. There are lots of incredible sites to see during your vacations, from the Sphinx to the Great Pyramids. Most vacation homes are set close to Hurghada, enjoying the long stretch of Red Sea where you can swim, scuba, or sunbathe.

  • Portugal

If you’re dreaming of a European vacation home, then Portugal is one of the coolest countries on the continent. It doesn’t have as many tourists as Spain, so it’s small and friendly, and cities such as Lisbon and Porto have become extremely popular in recent years. The sun-soaked Algarve is one of the most popular spots for vacation homes, and if you choose to rent out your property when you’re using it, then it’s likely to be popular during the summer months. Going to retire abroad? Portugal has been voted the best European country for expats

  • Belize

Vacation homes in the Caribbean can be pricey, but Belize is one of the more affordable places to buy a property. You can buy inexpensive plots of land if you’ve always wanted to build your own vacation home or find charmingly rustic homes in the Cayo District. Of course, if you want to go for luxury, then there are larger properties and estates overlooking the sea and the lush green mountains.

  • The Great Lakes

If you prefer short, weekend vacations close to home, then it’s worth considering a vacation home in the USA. The Great Lakes are just a few hours away from many parts of Iowa, and there’s something for everyone in this vast area. You can go surfing at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, sail to tiny islands or stroll along Twelvemile Beach along the shores of Lake Superior. Buying a vacation home here means it’s easier to let friends and family use the place, and there are no passports or flight bookings needed.
