Sheffield Sourdough and People in the Park Day held

SHEFFIELD – Small town USA, Sheffield held their Annual Sourdough/People in the Park Day Saturday. The People in the Park event was new this year and was a combination of Sourdough Day and Octoberfest for Sheffield.

The day also included the city wide garage sale.

Saturday morning started out with a parade, which went through town and out to the Sheffield Care Center.

“The people of the Care Center really like when the parade goes by,” said Connie Holze, an employee of the Center.

Before the parade began, Bazetta Kew, of Chapin, who was also at the Latimer Day Parade a while back said, “I think this is our last parade of the summer. John, (Bazetta’s husband) will be putting away the chairs from the car. Unless something else pops up, we might go.”

When the parade was over, people headed to People in the Park festivities at the Sheffield City Park. There they had lunch, games and activities for kids. There was a barbecue tasting and concert by The Hepperly Band. There was a one time admission cost of $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for ages 6-20. Youths 5 and under were free.

Later Saturday night, around 10:30 pm at the football field, a fireworks display was going to be shown.
