Good morning John

Your column had started with all the attributes of Oatmeal without the blueberries on top. It could’ve been Toast with no butter, it was mired in trivia about issues that have come and gone; I will give you credit for digging them up and laying them out once more. But I can assure you whatever portion of the citizenry in this community were responsible for these accomplishments – that percentage was minuscule. It wasn’t because more citizens were invited to participate, it was because these are issues that were decided pretty much behind closed doors without asking or for that matter… inviting opinions of the hoi polloi.

Personally I give a big thumbs up to the Park Inn hotel project. I think it will eventually return the investment many times over due to visits of tourists who are interested in Frank Lloyd Wright and his work. The finished results were first class, couldn’t be better.

Now John I don’t give a rat’s ass how hard you really try, but you’ll never be able to tie some run-of-the-mill hotel, built in a parking lot, to the work of the world renowned architect Frank Loyd Wright; these two entities don’t belong in the same room or on the same sheet of paper.

I was a proponent of the renovation of the Mason City Public Library. That building and land are a national treasure, it is in a class all by itself. You are not allowed to use it as a comparable in any situation.

You were careful to mention the Susie Q, Hy-Vee, Pro’s and Hardee’s hoping the mention of their haunts will lead them to follow your path and vote for a bad deal… a very bad deal. These are the exact same voters who sent Andy O’Brien home badly beaten… not because of who he is… because in his real life he’s a good guy. When he aligned himself with Eric Bookmeyer, those middle-class citizens who are never invited to offer their ideas or opinions on community projects, sent Andy O’Brien home with his tail between his legs. While you may hope they will swallow your hook, I know for certain they will not.

John, I graduated from Aluminum Siding University magna cum laude with a doctorate in deception. We turned down the lights… held hands and summoned deceased husbands to get their opinion on whether or not their widows should re-side the house. And strange as it may seem each and everyone we spoke with urged their widows to go forward and re-side the house. I ask you what are the odds of that? They are about the same as having our council vote 31 times in succession in favor of everything Bookmeyer wanted. Rare occasions for sure.

Today you worked in your kitchen cooking up pablum in an all-you-can-eat buffet… until at the end you gave in to your addiction by inviting the Dark Knight to sit at the table. You even grouped him into a category you labeled as young leaders. You’re a sly fox John… this is Lucifer we’re talking about, this is the guy who’s first order of business was to try and shut down the public forum once he was elected. He closed down the office of Human Rights, he wanted to lay off all the sanitation workers during the Christmas season. The list goes on. And On. What this “young leader” did was unthinkable… truly unimaginable. You couldn’t inject enough adjectives into this man’s Wiki description and stay under 1000 words. This guy loaded every board and committee in the city with people who will do his bidding, real greedy Chamber drunks; he’s seriously ill and you think he’s a young leader? You might want to re-think that. What he really is is the anti-Christ; some say a taker of lives.

This is the same guy that in one fell swoop would have gladly destroyed the property values of the entire city we all live in, but that story has already been told and the damage is done… as you know. Bookmeyer’s highly toxic John… keeping getting in bed with him could prove fatal – like getting AIDS from a hot hooker. It’s been known to happen, it’s fun one time only, then you pay forever.

Great great read. Peter you beat Skipper hands down, my husband and I always check NIT for your columns. We know you’ll sort things out for us after John leaves us confused as all get out. Keep up the good work!

Look up the word devious and you will see our Mayor’s picture next to it. Once Bookmeyer is a safe distence from City Hall he’ll be out of here….what’s he gonna do? Drive a beer truck…..couldn’t trust him. Eric misjudged the people who live here….now he’s dead in the water.

There exists here in our community an ” Us verses Them” conflict. “Them” are the executive branch of the local administration and the “Us” is everyone else….. I was able to get a glimpse of that on the video thst is available on N.I.T. where questions were asked but no answers came forth. Bill Schickle wrote everything down; you can take the paper he wrote everything down on and wipe your ass with it because in truth these people don’t have the answers. Never did.

Your opinions smack of sour grapes, constant criticism, cheap shots and a strange bromantic tension with Eric, Skipper and Matt. How about some common sense practical suggestions occasionally, some ideas, a little leadership instead of behaving like the piano player in the whorehouse.

It is so much worse than anyone realizes. Appears the Mayor and Chief of Police are involved in a game of deception to keep leads in a murder case from being investigated. This is truly evil, and at some point they will no longer be able to keep their “facts” straight and the truth will come out. https://northiowatoday.wpcomstaging.com/2016/12/30/retiring-state-representative-says-bookmeyer-other-mason-city-officials-stonewalled-him-in-huisentruit-investigation/

When the mayor leaves the stench will go with him……

We’ve all heard this song before Peter. Over and over and over again. Give it a rest please.

It would The impossible to list all the transgressions that Eric Bookmeyer Meyer has laid upon our city. Eric is a bonafied egomaniacal radical misfit. He went from numerous arrests in Clinton, Iowa to being the mayor in Mason city Iowa, he went from the backseat of a police car to having a say and hiring the chief of police in Mason city. It’s just too much for him to handle he knows he has an addiction but he doesn’t want to take time out of his life to address that fact and try to correct it.

You can’t run a city like this by holding closed door meetings, clandestine gatherings where you shut out your constituents. He is finding that out right now. Found it out with Prestidge foods found it I with the burning plant you found it out with the 67% tax levy and now he’s going to find it out again.

Pete must be slipping or intentionally left our many more of Bookmeyer’s shortcomings. Remember when Bookie said he didn’t want old people on boards so he he could stack the deck in his favor.

Skipper wouldn’t touch that one would he?

Good read. The point of the op-ed is Bookmeyer AND Skipper have both been a negative and colossal failiures for the City of Mason City.

Peter you could have shortened your very wordy diatribe by just writing”I hate Mayor Bookmeyer, I like Skipper but don’t like that he likes the Mayor and I really HATE Eric”. We get it.

Your response validates the old adage that the truth is never welcome and is never invited to the party. It is what it is…..I just wrote what Skipper did not.

Peter, your 15 minutes of fame are over. Would you please let the subject go so the citizens can move forward in a constructive way. You must be a real piece of _______ to continually beat this horse to death over and over again. Or do you just have a hidden grudge against people because of your jealousies?

Amazing, the depths to which Peter bloviates and contemplates his navel.

You see Peter, I told you the puppets would come after you to try to discredit you. They just can’t understand that the majority of people in this town agree with you and will vote this monstrosity down.

Great job Peter. This is one of your better writings and what you write here is very true. Of course the establishment puppets will do everything they can to try and discredit you, but you should know that the majority of the people agree with you. We intend to vote down this wet dream and send the mayor that no one trust away for good.

Truth hurts muffin ! I heard a rumor most elected public officals are on the take $$$$$$

Children, you are such an idiot
