DES MOINES – Two Des Moines Police Department patrol officers are hospitalized after being shot this morning and a suspect is deceased.
The suspect vehicle turned north on E. 24th Street from Easton Boulevard, left the roadway and crashed.
As officers attempted to take the suspect, an adult male, into custody, he fired upon them with a handgun. Multiple officers returned fire, and the suspect was shot.
Two Des Moines Police Department patrol officers were struck by gunfire. Both officers remain hospitalized and are expected to survive.
Des Moines Police Department detectives are investigating this shooting incident. The Iowa Department of Public Safety – Division of Criminal Investigation has been requested to join the investigation.
