OBIT: Susan Marie Marvets

Susan M. Marvets, 65, of Tripoli, died Monday morning, February 24, at her home, surrounded by loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 28, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli.

Susan M. Marvets, 65, of Tripoli, died Monday morning, February 24, at her home, surrounded by loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 28, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. Interment will follow at Fremont Cemetery, rural Tripoli. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 27th at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the Church on Friday. Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.

Susan Marie, daughter of Edward and Alberta (Fowlkes) McClure was born April 21, 1959, at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1979, and continued her education at Hawkeye Community College, where she earned a degree in Respiratory Therapy. Susan was united marriage with Edward Marvets at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. Sue worked as a respiratory therapist for many years prior to working in administration with MercyOne Horizons, retiring in 2018. Sue was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli and participated in the Tripoli Variety Show for many years. She enjoyed camping, reading (especially Stephen King novels), needlepoint, riding motorcycle with Ed (traveled to Sturgis many years), and loved spending time with her family.

Sue is survived by her husband, Ed of Tripoli; sons, David (Ashley) Marvets of Waterloo and Nick (Sophia) Marvets of Sumner; seven grandchildren, Paishence, Dacoda, Techoma, Isabella, Iella, Raven, and Stevie; four great-grandchildren, Kendalyn, Kolsten, Aviana, and Ayvren; brothers, Richie (Sara) McClure of Colorado and Ray (Susan) McClure of Denver, Iowa; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peggy and Richard Marvets of Tripoli; sister-in-law, Susan (Norm) Shinstine of Dunkerton; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Heather Marvets; and siblings, Ralph McClure, Artus Moritz, Edward McClure, Joyce Parks, and Nellie “Cathy” Pettit.
