MASON CITY – The voters are making their voices heard at the polls in Mason City this election season.
In a contentious mayor’s and city council race, County Auditor Ken Kline told NIT that if absentee ballots continue to come in as they have since October 7th, “we will likely end up with more absentee voters than in any prior city election.”
Through Thursday, October 31st, 1079 absentee ballots have been cast, with several dozen mailed ballots not yet returned, according to Mr. Kline.
“At the rate we’re going, we will add more than a hundred both today and Monday,” Mr. Kline predicted.
The mayor’s seat and three city council seats are in contention at this time in Mason City.
Voting continues at the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse Friday, Monday and Tuesday (election day). You can vote all the way through business hours and until 8 PM Tuesday evening.
