RURAL MASON CITY – Police said a slippery road New Year’s Eve caused a crash that injured a Mason City man.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, on December 31, 2013 at 2:23 PM, deputies responded to a single vehicle accident on Mallard Avenue just south of Highway B-20. The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Jonathan Johnson of Mason City, slid off a snow-covered road and struck a tree.
Mason City paramedics transported one male passenger, 21-year-old Andrew Ostendorf, also of Mason City, to Mercy Hospital. His condition is unavailable at this time.
Mason City Fire Paramedics and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. The accident still under investigation.
