Striking Painters Volunteer to help Creston Hospital

IUPAT Local 246 Union painters offer volunteers to help get the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston back in operation.

Des Moines, IA – International Union of Painters and Allied Trades went on strike at midnight April 30th. One of the facilities impacted by this strike is the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.  The Union and negotiating committee is working hard to resolve this dispute. They do not want the strike to impede the rebuilding of the Medical Center in Creston.  The medical center was severally damage in a tornado earlier this year.

The painters and allied trades have been busy working on getting this medical center back in full operation which will allow patients back into the center.  Bob Gilmore, Business manager Secretary/Treasurer of IUPAT District 81 said “We have union brothers and sisters willing and available to volunteer to go down to Creston and finish this job.”

“If they will allow us to volunteer, we will have workers there immediately,” said Gilmore. “We want to help them get this wing open.”  Around 200 members of IUPAT Local 246 are on strike at this time.
