OBIT: Roma Christina Hemann

Roma C. Hemann, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025. A service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

Roma C. Hemann, age 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formally of Osage, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, surrounded by her children at Hallmar Village, in Cedar Rapids. Roma was born on January 19, 1934, the daughter of Peter and Dora (Vogel) Salz. She graduated in 1952 from Visitation Catholic School. Roma married Don Hemann in 1956, they were together 47 years and had nine loving children. Don passed in June of 2003. Roma later married Harry Hemann, in October of 2005. Harry passed away in April of 2019.

Roma worked for Fox River Mills for 20 years in Osage. She was a member of the Christian Mothers in Stacyville and more recently a member of the Osage Sacred Heart Guild, as well as a member of the Covenant Singers. We all have fond memories of her art for baking and cooking, her love for puzzles, playing cards and many other games.

Roma is survived by her children, Quen (Deb Krings) Hemann of Elko-New Market, MN, Randy (Lynne) Hemann of Rochester, MN, Lori (Mike) Heimer of Stewartville, MN, Lois (Dan) Stromley of Rockwell, IA, Paul (Lisa) Hemann of Burnsville, MN, Lu (Beth Schmitt) Wilford of Coralville, IA, Tim (Kari) Hemann of Kellogg, IA, Lana (Scott) Sellner of Fairfax, IA, Jamie (Monica Kim) Hemann of Chatsworth, CA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; twin brother, Roman (Vivian) Salz of Rochester, MN, brother, Will (MaryAnn) Salz of Mesa, AZ, and sister, Katy (Al) Schutta of St. Micheal, MN.

She is preceded in death by her husband Don Hemann, second husband Harry Hemann; parents, Peter and Dora Salz; brothers, Ambrose Salz, Ed Salz, Fr. Marvin Salz, Leo Salz, and sister Monica Halbach.

Roma has always been a person to give back to the community. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Faith Lutheran Home, Osage, IA, Sacred Heart Parish, Osage, IA, or Stacyville Brat Trot, Stacyville, IA.

A service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, IA. The visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place at Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville.

Champion Funeral Home of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
