LOS ANGELES — Arizona’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio says that volunteer investigators working for him have concluded that President Barack Obama’s birth certificate is not legitimate.
The Maricopa County sheriff made his remarks Tuesday at a news conference, saying: “At the very least, I can tell you this, based on all of the evidence presented and investigated, I cannot in good faith report to you that these documents are authentic.”
He added: “My investigators believe that the long-form birth certificate was manufactured electronically and that it did not originate in a paper format as claimed by the White House.”
The latest pronouncements are a return to the issue for Arpaio, who is seeking re-election in November. Further, they come as the federal government is scheduled to begin Thursday its civil trial against Arpaio, accused of racially profiling Latinos.
That suit is part of a chain of federal civil rights litigation against Arpaio, who’s made a career out of championing conservative issues, such as tough stands on law and order, illegal immigration and, of late, the so-called birther issue.
Obama has said — often and loudly — that he was born in Hawaii, but no number of statements, court suits or official denials have prevented the claim that he was born in a foreign country from resurfacing in the political arena.
Being a natural-born citizen is one of the constitutional requirements of the office of president and vice president. So repeatedly re-litigating the birther issue is still red meat for the more conservative elements of the Republican Party and those on the right flank outside the GOP, all of whom question Obama’s legitimacy to serve.
Arpaio said he was “shocked” by his group’s findings. “My original intent was to clear the president of the United States,” said the sheriff, known more for trying to bury Obama than for praising him.
The Obama campaign has stopped commenting on birther stories, hoping to finally put the issue to eternal rest. Once again, however, Hawaii officials insisted that Obama was indeed born on the islands.
“President Obama was born in Honolulu, and his birth certificate is valid,” Joshua A. Wisch, a special assistant to Hawaii’s attorney general, said in a statement. “Regarding the latest allegations from a sheriff in Arizona, they are untrue, misinformed, and misconstrue Hawaii law.”
But sometimes in politics, the only thing to do with a dead horse is to beat it.
More than two months have passed since Sheriff Joe’s press conference, and not a thing has happened. Why not? Well, obviously the members of Congress and the law enforcement officials of the country do not believe Sheriff Joe and do believe that Obama was born in Hawaii, as the officials of both parties there and the Index Data and the birth notices sent to the Hawaii newspapers in 1961 by the DOH of Hawaii all show.
It has been THREE WEEKS since the Sheriff’s press conference, and nothing has happened. NOTHING. Nothing at all.
No member of Congress (and there are 535 of them) has called for an investigation. Not even Rush Limbaugh wants to discuss it.
John McCain, who is one of the Senators of Arizona as well as being the former Republican candidate for president, has recently called the Sheriff crazy. The CONSERVATIVE secretary of state of Arizona, who did his own investigation into Obama’s place of birth, has accepted Hawaii’s confirmation that Obama was born there, and he has not changed his mind following Sheriff Joe’s press conference.
Could the explanation be that the whole world is part of the plot? Or, more likely, is it that they believe the birth certificate, and the officials in Hawaii, and the Index Data, and the birth notices in the Health Bureau Statistics section of the newspapers——and they do not believe the sheriff.

Mitt was born in a Mexican Mormon cult compound. Why is everyone ignoring that story?
Because both of his parents were U.S. citizens. McCain was born in Panama. Same thing.
The reliability of Sheriff Joe is now very much in question. It seems that either deliberately or by mistake, he got the meaning of the numeric codes all wrong, and many of his claims are based on the meaning of the numeric codes.

It wasn’t Sheriff Arpaio that did the investigation, it was an independent firm that did it, they just turned the evidence over to him.
Not exactly a private firm, a group of private individuals who were volunteers. The point is that Sheriff Joe believed them. He took their word that the codes meant what they said, and they did not mean that at all.

Answer: However, in 1961 that was no allowed. The law allowing that was not passed until 1982, and it still does not allow Hawaii to issue a Hawaii BC with the words “born in Honolulu” or another Hawaii place of birth on it unless there was real proof that the child was born at that place. If the child was born in New Jersey, you can get a Hawaii birth certificate with the place of birth “New Jersey.”

You might well ask why, if there is evidence that Obama has multiple SS numbers and that one of them came from Connecticut that NO committee in Congress wants to investigate? Why not?
Because it is not illegal to have mistakes in your SS files, and lots of people do. And there is no evidence that this is other than a mistake, or a lot of mistakes. Republicans in Congress would be GLAD to hold a hearing to show that there was a crime involved with Obama’s SS number. But they KNOW that there is no evidence. In fact, if they looked into their own files, they are likely to find multiple numbers in them.
What I don’t understand is I have never heard of anybody having more than 1 SS number, if anybody else has please let me know because I never have. You say millions of people do, prove it. Now if they are data entry mistakes, OK I can see that but using those mistakes as your real SS number, wouldn’t that be wrong if not illegal? I am Ignorant on that so please inform me, and for all those that don’t know ignorant means without knowing not stupid.

The problem is that foreign-born people can get birth certificates in Hawaii if a parent can prove s/he has lived there the entire previous year. It’s a loophole that state has that conflicts with the U.S. Constitution for being a natural born citizen. Also, the technical details that the investigators have uncovered on Obama’s birth certificate, selective service post card, and numerous social security numbers are very disturbing. Why does he have so many social security numbers associated with so many addresses that he lived at over the years? We all deserve answers. Not just the Republicans.

No that was not allowed until 1982, and even the new law does not allow Hawaii to issue a Hawaii birth certificate with a Hawaii place of birth on it UNLESS there was actual proof that the child was born in that place.
The new law allows Hawaii to issue a birth certificate parents with the right residence requirements even if their child was born in New Jersey. But all that they can get is a Hawaii birth certificate that says: “Place of Birth—New Jersey.” In any case, you could not get a birth certificate unless you were born in Hawaii in 1961.

He originally started the investigation to prove that the birth certificate was real to basically shut the people up once and for all but when they proved that it was fake he had no course but to follow it through.

What I think is strange is if it is a fake how can he even have a drivers license? In arizona they have a short form and a long form. I took my son in to get his drivers license and all we had was the short birth certificate because the the original was lost in a fire and the court house sent us the short one and the DMV will not accept the short one.

Obama has shown both the short form and the long form, and officials in Hawaii of both parties have confirmed the facts on them, and the existence of a Hawaii birth certificate is further confirmed by the public Index Data file, which shows a birth certificate for Obama listed under 1961, and still further confirmed by the birth notices that were sent to the Hawaii newspapers by the DOH of Hawaii in 1961.

Obama was born in Hawaii, not Indonesia or for that matter Kenya. He has a birth certificate from Hawaii, confirmed by the officials of both parties, further confirmed by the Index Data, and still further confirmed by the birth notices that were sent to the papers by the DOH of Hawaii in 1961 (for a section of the paper called “Health Bureau Statistics,” which as the name indicates was sent only by the department of health, and at that time the DOH only sent out those notices for births in Hawaii).
