Iowa Democratic Party pummels Kim Reynolds for taking donor’s plane to Liberty Bowl

Kim Reynolds: Can Fed Hubbell defeat the appointed Governor of Iowa in November election?

DES MOINES – The Iowa Democratic Party is sparing no jabs at Iowa’s appointed Governor Kim Reynolds, who they say flew on a financial donor’s plane to watch the Iowa State Cyclones’ victory over Memphis in the Liberty Bowl in Tennessee last December.

Iowa State defeated Memphis 21-20 on December 30, 2017 in the Liberty Bowl and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds was there to watch. Iowa Democrats smell blood in this fall’s election as their candidate Fred Hubbell mounts a strong campaign to unseat her. In an email to voters, the Iowa Democratic Party punished Reynolds for the flight to Tennessee and for not paying for her game tickets until weeks later:

Kim Reynolds has had a pretty turbulent few days. It’s clear that she and her team are getting pretty concerned about her chances of actually winning a statewide election in Iowa. (Remember, Reynolds had smooth skies on her way to becoming governor — she was appointed to the job!)

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Associated Press breaks a damning story on Reynolds, exposing a fancy trip she took to Tennessee on one of her top donor’s corporate private jet to watch an Iowa State football game.

THURSDAY MORNING: It’s revealed that Kim Reynolds didn’t pay for her tickets to the game until a month later. It must be nice to have the luxury of paying for something a month late, huh?

THURSDAY AFTERNOON: Kim Reynolds balks during a press gaggle when questioned about her concerning actions — even going as far to say that her trip to Tennessee was “an opportunity to get in front of Iowans.” REALLY, GOVERNOR?! Nice try.

While Kim Reynolds can fly off on fancy trips with her campaign donors (who just also happen to have state contracts!), she sure as hell can’t fly away from her failing record as governor of Iowa.

It’s up to us to make sure Iowa voters know about Reynolds’ dangerous — and potentially ethically violating — behavior. Iowans start voting in less than a month, so we are running out of time to let folks know just how corrupt Kim Reynolds really is.

The election for governor and other important seats is set for November 6, 2018. Many reports call the race a toss-up. Republicans have been pointing to Hubbell’s record with a troubled department store chain, saying he “closed (Younkers) stores in Spencer, Ottumwa and Newton” and “everyone was fired”.
