Arlene June Johnson, 90, of Mason City, IA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City, IA.

Memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice.

Arlene was born on June 23, 1934 to Peter and Josaphine (Paulson) Mondahl in Mason City, IA. She was a proud graduate of Mason City High School. On November 9, 1955 Arlene was united in marriage to Dean Johnson in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, from this union two children were born, Becky and Randy. Arlene embraced her role as a devoted housewife, creating a warm and loving home.

Arlene found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending countless hours tending to her garden and beautifying her yard. She delighted in shopping trips, lively card games with her beloved sisters, and occasionally trapshooting. Above all, her greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and cherished beyond measure.

Those left to cherish Arlene’s memory are her daughter Becky (Gary) Viers; grandchildren Mark Johnson and Kristin (Aaron) Patrick; siblings Norman (Millie) Mondahl and Gerald (Vel) Mondahl; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Dean Johnson; son Randy Johnson; parents Peter and Josaphine Mondahl and siblings Gilman Mondahl, Pearl (Bud) Harris and Beatrice “Beets” (Bill) Trizulny.
