Doris Muller, 91, went to be with her Lord on December 5, 2024 at Sheffield Care Center with family at her side. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa on June 29, 1933 to Arnold and Bertha (Nachtman) Steffen.
She graduated East High School in Waterloo and married Howard Muller on October 27, 1951. Doris was a full-time farm wife and mother, then worked full-time at Sheffield Care Center 29 years, retiring just shy of turning 80 years old, to work 5 years with Melissa before full retirement due to severe heart failure diagnosis. She lived as a child of God and was a member of Zion St John Lutheran Church, serving on church board, women’s board, circles and with quilting-for-mission group. Doris was also a 4-H leader and a member of several card clubs. She loved her daily morning devotions with God, reading newspapers and always put others first up to her final breath.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Robert, Patricia (Don), Carole (Kevin) and Darlene; grandchildren Amanda, Melissa, Ryan, John, Grace; great-grandchildren Ryan, Paul, Serenity, William, Benjamin and one on-the-way; step-grandchildren Randi, Myles, Justin, Jacob; step great-grandchildren Kathleen, Andrew, Samuel, Kaydence, Parker, brother Richard Steffen, sister Linda Bazyn, nephews, nieces, and many friends.
Preceding her are three preborn children, husband Howard, her dad, mom, brothers Roy and Don; sisters Lorraine and Irene and many cherished extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, at Zion St. John Lutheran Church, Sheffield. Burial will follow at Zion Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Sheffield. Visitation will be 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Monday, at the church. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, Hampton is caring for Doris and her family.
