
On Wednesday, August 7th, at approximately 10:52 PM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of shots fired in the area of 2nd Ave N and N 10th St. The caller advised that they had heard numerous shots fired.
Responding officers located a vehicle in the 100 block N 10th Street that had been involved in a traffic collision. This vehicle was unoccupied. A witness in the area told officers that the vehicle had been traveling south on N 10th Street prior to the collision.
Officers combed the surrounding area, and they located evidence in the 400 block of N 10th Street indicating that multiple shots had been fired from this location. Officers and responding investigators spoke with witnesses in the area in an attempt to determine what had transpired. Physical evidence was also collected at the scene.
As the investigation continued to unfold, the occupants of the vehicle involved in the collision were located. Both known occupants had sustained injuries as a result of the collision. Neither sustained gun shot injuries.
At this time investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to follow up on this incident.

This is the second shooting reported in Fort Dodge that day. Earlier in the evening, police dealt with a shooting in which a car was riddled with bullets and one man was hurt.
