OBIT: Beulah Hearn

Beulah Hearn, 90, of Dumont, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at Franklin General Hospital. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, at New Hope United Methodist Church, Dumont.

Beulah Hearn, 90, of Dumont, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at Franklin General Hospital. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, at New Hope United Methodist Church, Dumont with Pastor Dennis Burns officiating. Interment will be at the Dumont Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, Dumont is caring for Beulah and her family.

Beulah Irene Hearn was born May 8, 1934, at Dumont, daughter of Henry and Viola (Hanawalt) Miller. She graduated from Dumont High School and NIACC.

On June 5, 1953, Beulah was united in marriage with Merle Hearn in Bristow, Iowa. After 40 years they renewed their vows in June 1993.

Beulah was baptized and raised in the United Methodist Church in Dumont later becoming a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. She is remembered for publishing ‘Tillies Town Talk’ newsletter. She was a piano player, teacher, and singer. She drove the special needs van for Dumont School. She is remembered as a great cook and baker, but most notably being a mom, grandma, and great grandma.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Lynn (Eunice) Hearn, Lehighton, PA; Keith (Vicki) Hearn, Mason City; Myron (Alice) Hearn, Dumont; Larry (Krissy) Hearn, Dumont; daughter-in-law: Julie Hearn (surviving wife of Marvin); 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; special friend Lila Gruelke, Allison and other friends and relatives.

Buelah is preceded in death by her parents; husband Merle; son Marvin; twin brothers Dale and Donald Miller; sister Lois Eberline and her beloved cat, Chester, who saved her life on multiple occasions.

Those wishing to extend an expression of sympathy are invited to extend a memorial to the family of Beulah Hearn.
