Betty was born on January 24, 1934 to Walter and Lola (Bamford) Schleiffarth in Belmond, IA. Betty graduated from high school in 1952 where she later met her soon to be husband Duane Fibelstad. They were united in marriage on March 11, 1956 at the Congregational Church in Belmond, IA, where from this union three children were born; Dale, Wayne and Alan.
Betty had many hobbies including sewing, playing the piano, playing card games with her friends, putting together puzzles, collecting baby dolls, teddy bears, listening to Boxcar Willie and watching Street Dances. Most of all, spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren were always at the top of her list. Betty showed great care for all those who entered her home and took on the statement of “Grandma”, with nothing but pride.
Betty was known to open her heart and home with stern-studying eyes. Always taking pride in Holidays and Birthdays, she made each occasion special to those she loved. No matter what was going on within her life and her time, she was always there for all of those around her, especially her family.
Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her children Dale (Marie) Fibelstad, Wayne Fibelstad and Alan Fibelstad; grandchildren Anthony (Angie) Alitz, Dylan (Samantha) Alitz, and Brittany (Nick) Crail; great-grandchildren Ronnie, Kastiel, Damien, Wyatt, Kaizen, Baby Alitz, Lily, Mya and Arya; sister Carolyn Major; nieces and nephew Nancy, Lisa and Brian; and the daughter she never had Vicky (William Crail) Alitz.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Duane Fibelstad, and parents Walter and Lola Schleiffarth.
