I try to read the blogs to get a feel for the pulse of those writing them. In order to do this effectively you must be able to discern those who are your basic ignorant individuals, those who have skin in the game and benefit from Bookmeyer being where he is, and those who just dislike me for reasons that only they know. I am used to that…it’s OK.
No one can see into the future, no one can really tell if the person standing next to you is an ax murderer or suffers from pathological schizophrenia, and believe me when I tell you, we have a few of those on this site. Now let’s re-visit that election that brought us Eric Bookmeyer; who knew? If we could find out who it was that brought this dark cloud down on this community, we could shun them forever and even that wouldn’t adequately compensate us for what this part time mayor and full time Napoleonic pretender has wrought upon us.
The CES concept was a window into this nightmare; in it we got a glimpse of a severe personality disorder that was centered on self satisfaction and disregard of those who made his position possible; the voters. Remember he tried to circumvent the public vote. This guy runs the gamut on unpredictability; one day he wants to blow tens of thousands of dollars just to move his desk, next he want to dump the Sanitation Department, overhaul the Fire Department, put us in debt for close to thirty million to put in a hockey rink. The Budweiser has got to this guy.
He looks the other way at the fairgrounds, which is in the city limits and is integral to our best interest. Maybe Eric could summon his hand picked panel, I know the council picked them but he had half of the council in a trance and now they are all deep asleep waiting for him to snap his finger and tell them what to do…..and for your information; contrary to what a half a dozen people might believe, there is not one person on that council who, “is his own man.”
All of this from a guy who went from being featured on the police blotter in Clinton, to becoming the part time mayor of this city. God help us to get through this…..give us strength…….

Bookmeyer can’t be too bad…the MAJORITY of voters didn’t give a rats what he did in Clinton. They realize it has NO bearing on MC. At least Bookmeyer’s fans got off the couch or barstoool….and voted. More than you can say for Matt & Pete fans.

I agree. Mayor Bookmeyer is a hell of a mayor and a great guy altogether. More of a leader than this town really deserves but still he serves the people unselfishly day after day. For the very small amount of money he is paid, too. I hope he runs again even though he would be crazy to considering how that bully Peter Children and Matt Marquardt treat him.

Matt I took your advice and randomly picked names out of the phone book to call to try to find the multitude of people you claim have witnessed the Mayors boorish behavior.I called 1000 people and here is the breakdown.
92% said they had never seen the Mayor act inappropriately
6% said they didn’t know who the mayor was
2% said they only read about it on NIT but if Peter and Matt say its true then it has to be.

Actually Reggie I did one better. I ran a Art Gallery with a custom framing busing included. My store was on Federal Avenue on the cotner of Federal and Second street North next to the green Mill. I took the letter of rejection and framed it and put it in the window of my store for all to see. I said if you had any important documents to save this would be a good way to do it. Of course everyone stopped and read the letter.

Yes Reggie you are right. The painting (nude) was one of my girlfriends. She was one of my day time girls; I say that because her husband didn’t want her going out after dark. I think our time together was on Friday morning. I had another in the afternoon.

Many years ago a friend of mine sumitted my name for membership to the Elks Club. He did this without my knowledge or my permission. One day not long after I received a letter from the Elks Club; it said that I had failed to meet the requirements of membership at their last regular meeting. If fact those who were at that meeting said I received the biggest black ball rendering in the history of the Elks Club. They had to send out for more black balls. Now you want me to run for office in this town….is that what you want? I don’t think so.

However, if you choose to think the mayor is a stand up guy, it is a free country. If anyone thinks he is working for the good of Mason City and the taxpayers here, think again. Time will tell!

Reggie, Peter is repeating what other people have told him. For example, I told Peter how I watched the Mayor get carried out of the OP drunk by a high-ranking city employee. This was after he was very rude and belligerent to the staff and he was asked to leave. I also heard just this week from a whole group of people about an incident at the country club. Further, there was an incident at a barber shop where he made a young lady working there cry. Peter spoke with this young lady over the phone. Should I go on? I can. I have more. This is information that many, many people know and talk about. How many witnesses do you need, Reggie?

No amount of proof will convince you, and quite frankly I do not care if you believe anything here or not. Quite likely you are the mayor himself or his best friend or someone related to him. Check the court records for Clinton, Iowa if you want to see what the mayor was up to before he came here. I read it once so Mr. Children is not making anything up. I believe it had something to do with harrassing a city council person or something along those lines. Apparently, he liked his beer when he lived there, too. All that Mr. Children writes about our esteemed mayor is right on.
I went to Iowa Courts Online and there was no such thing as harassment or anything worse than a speeding ticket. I don’t think Clinton is a separate country or state so you are making this up!
