Marvin L. Crooks, 80, of 410 S. Tyler Ave. Mason City, died Monday March 11, 2024 at Mercy One North Iowa.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday at Fullerton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 123 2nd ST SE, Mason City, Iowa. Marvin was born August 17, 1943 to Wilbur and Gladys (holding) Crooks in Dougherty, Iowa. He graduated from St. Patrick’s School in Dougherty in 1961.
Marvin married Lois (Stanbrough) on July 20, 1964, they have been married 59 years. To this union was born four children. Sheila, Tammy, and twins Randy and Rhonda.
He worked for Hartley Alden and Son, an area farmer until disability led to his retirement. He loved working outside and working the ground every year. His hobbies were raising chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits. He also loved old time country music and listened to it every day. Later he enjoyed going on trips.
Marvins biggest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a very gentle person and will be missed by many.
Marvin is survived by his wife Lois, children Sheila (Terry), Randy (Amie) and Rhonda (Kevin). Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Brothers Lawrence (Judy), Jim, Raymond, Mike (Judie) and sister Sandy (Clif) Williams. In-Laws Sue Crooks, Barbara (Butch) Gamble, Judy Mulder, Kenneth (Dawn) Stanbrough.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tammy, brothers Joe, LLoyd, and Bob, sisters Loretta Engelking and Barbara Swallom. Brother-in-laws Gene Engelking, Leonard Swallom, Victor Stanbrough and Larry Mulder. Nephew Eugene Engelking. Father and Mother-in-law Darrel and Carrie Stanbrough.
