Jane was born April 25, 1949, in Mason City, Iowa, daughter of Jacob J. Weiss and Riecka M. (Beer) Weiss. She was raised in Mason City and graduated from Newman High School in 1967. She married Gary L. Ginapp on April 27, 1968 and together they had two sons, Carl and Craig.

Jane held her first Federal job with the Mason City Social Security Administration office from 1967 through 1969. After a brief break, she joined the Department of Agriculture in 1973 from which she retired in 2005. During her career she received an Outstanding State Award in 1981 and, for her contributions to Civil Rights, an Employee of the Year Award and President’s Award in 2001. Over these years, Jane followed her passion for learning and achieved a life goal of hers by graduating with her Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Iowa State University in 2004. After her retirement, she worked part-time for another ten years for the Family Practice Residency program at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.
Together with her husband, Jane found a life’s calling in being a grandparent. Countless memories were made over the years baking cookies, making crafts, and telling stories to her grandchildren. These special moments were detailed through numerous scrapbooks that lovingly captured the lives of her family members. Jane also enjoyed spending time crocheting and making personalized cards for her loved ones.

As an advocate for numerous causes, volunteering was close to Jane’s heart. For many years, she organized lunches for the North Iowa Diversity Appreciation Team. She volunteered for the Iowa Reading Information Service (IRIS) reading program for the elderly and as a reading buddy for elementary students. She was an avid Mason City Lions Club member and fulfilled several roles during her tenure. A favorite role of hers was assisting with vision screenings in Mason City elementary schools. She received the Warren Coleman Honorary Award from the low Lions Foundation for her dedicated service. Jane truly enjoyed working with children which was a true testimony being the grandmammy of her four grandchildren.

Jane is survived by her two sons, Carl (Marcia) and Craig (Heidi); three grand-daughters (Callie, Riley, Camre) and her grand-son (Joris); her sisters Mary Gee; Josie (Gerry) Kasprzak; Margaret (Ken) Gross; Christine (Dennis) Hunt; her brother Mitch (Carolyn) Weiss; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
