Alberta’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers of Good Shepherd for the past years of outstanding service to not only Alberta, but her family. Hospice of North Iowa was an integral part of Alberta’s final days, ensuring she could pass with dignity. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You!
Alberta Rose Provost was born October 20, 1941 in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Donnabelle M. Provost. She grew up in the Omaha area, graduating from a Catholic girl’s school. Alberta learned the value of hard work at a very young age, sewing clothing and collars, later earning her CNA. She worked at various care centers in the area before finding her niche as a Home Health Aide in Mason City. She devoted herself to this career, nurturing those in need with boundless compassion. She was married January 14, 1984 to Gordon D. Robinette in Mason City, he passed away in 1991. Alberta was blessed with three children, Michael, Cynthia and Victoria.

Alberta had an extraordinary love for animals and took pride in giving them a place to call home. Her selflessness extended far beyond her work, as she fearlessly championed the rights of her fellow caregivers, spearheading the union involvement in their work. Alberta believed that every single person deserved the care they needed and tirelessly fought for it. Even in retirement, her spirit of caregiving never waned; she continued to watch over and tend to those around her. During COVID she and a few ladies at Good Shepherd put their sewing skills to work, turning any fabric available into reusable masks for the staff. Alberta possessed a vibrant personality, unafraid to express her opinion. Eager to create a community of strong, working women, she dedicated herself to forming a group of Red Hat Ladies, a close-knit group that embodied the values of service. Together, these formidable ladies orchestrated events throughout Mason City, leaving an impact on the lives of others. From baking an abundance of cookies to organizing heartfelt gatherings at care centers, they made sure others experienced the joy of connection. Alberta lived by the motto of the Red Hat Ladies: “Gaudy is Good,” embracing the notion that boldness and flamboyance brought color and vibrancy to life.

Those surviving are her children, Michael Provost of Las Vegas, NV, Cynthia “Cindy” Barron and Victoria “Vicky” Murl of Mason City; grandchild, Hope M. Fett-Nunez; great-grandchildren, Leah, Madison, Phillip and Bailey; siblings, Anthony (JoAnne) Boncordo, Louise (Nick) Gau, Patricia Rupp, Peter (Sherrie) Boncordo, Joseph Boncordo, and Charles (Joyce) Boncordo; cherished friends, Barb Eppens and Joan Bartel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Gordon and a great-granddaughter, Bailey.
