WEST BURLINGTON – Perfect 10. The NIACC softball team picked up a pair of wins Sunday at the Southeastern CC Turf Tournament to move its record to 10-0.
NIACC stopped College of Lake County 19-1 in five innings and stopped Kankakee CC 10-0 in five innings.
Freshman right-hander Emily Jones tossed a five-inning no-hitter in NIACC’s win over College of Lake County. Jones struck out six to improve her personal record to 3-0.
It was the first no-hitter for a NIACC pitcher since Kristen Peka tossed a perfect game in a 10-0 five-inning win over Northeast CC on April 20, 2019.
NIACC’s Brynnlin Kroymann was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and she also drew three walks. Sydne Toman was 2 for 4, including a double, with three RBIs. Ravyn Krachey was 1 for 1 and drew three walks and Hattie Wiste was 1 for 1 with a double and two RBIs.
In the win over Kankakee CC, sophomore Laken Lienhard tossed a five-inning one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Lienhard was also 3 for 3, including a double, with an RBI.
Also for the Trojans, Katy Olive was 2 for 4 with two doubles, Ravyn Krachey was 1 for 1 with a double and an RBI and Jones was 2 for 2 with an RBI.
NIACC returns to action March 3-4 in a four-game series at Labette CC.
