DES MOINES – Vice President Mike Pence is in Iowa today to hold a campaign rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
Vice President Pence is in Des Moines for the ‘Farmers & Ranchers for Trump’ Coalition Launch. The event is being held in the Elwell Family Food Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Doors open at 11 AM and the event starts at 1:00 PM. The Trump campaign has been offering in-person and virtual tickets to the event. By registering for this event, the campaign’s website says, “you understand and expressly acknowledge that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists … you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19, and waive, release, and discharge Donald J. Trump for President from any and all liability.”
Incumbent Iowa Congresswoman Cindy Axne’s campaign was on alert over the visit, as her Iowa District 3 seat is sought by politician David Young, a Republican who held the district seat previously for two terms. The Axne campaign says “Mike Pence has visited Iowa 11 times now since taking office and it’s not for sightseeing. He’s working overtime to bolster Young’s ability to win this November while rallying as much of Trump’s extreme base as possible.” They claim the election is a dead heat at this time, according to polls.
Pence will also hold another campaign event in Urbandale at 3:00 PM.
