MASON CITY – The North Iowa Symphony Orchestra (NISO) concludes its season on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 PM in the North Iowa Community Auditorium with another concert designed to appeal to all ages and musical tastes.

From the beauty of the string section playing the music of Handel and Holst to the boisterous energy of the full orchestra playing music from The Greatest Showman, the NISO will rock your world with their enthusiasm and spirit.

The concert opens with a medley of tunes from George F. Handel of Messiah fame. This group of tunes allows the symphony’s growing string sections to display the sound that makes the orchestra an orchestra.

The orchestra strings continue their study of Gustav Holst’s St. Paul Suite with more movements from this favorite of string players all over the world. The St. Paul Suite is one of the most popular pieces from one of the most popular composers of the 20th century.
Everyone is familiar with his beloved The Planets Suite which shows no sign of waning in popularity.

The full orchestra joins the strings to present a varied program designed to excite the audience with its range and power.

The hit movie The Greatest Showman is a wonderful portrayal of the life of the great P. T. Barnum and his struggles to entertain and captivate his audience. The orchestra presents many of the memorable tunes from the movie for the enjoyment of all ages.

Those of us who grew up following the escapades of James Bond will recognize Bond themes spanning the years from Goldfinger to Live and Let Die. The orchestra presents 007: Through the Years.

Favorites from the classical world include movements from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet ballet, considered one of the greatest ballets of the 20th century.

Please join the North Iowa Symphony Orchestra and its director Richard Chitty for a wonderful evening of beautiful music on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 PM in the North Iowa Community Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
