BENTON COUNTY — A Kansas man was killed this week following a two-vehicle rollover accident on Highway 30 in Benton County.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that the crash occurred at approximately 6:18 p.m. on April 6, 2026, near the intersection of US Highway 30 and 32nd Avenue.

According to the crash report, both a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2026 Buick Regal were traveling eastbound in the left lane of Highway 30. The investigation indicates the Silverado, driven by 58-year-old Ricardo Garcia-Garcia of Kansas City, Kansas, rear-ended the Buick Regal, driven by 39-year-old Brunis Alcy of Cedar Rapids.

The force of the collision sent the Buick into the south ditch. The Silverado then lost control, crossed through the median, and rolled several times.

Garcia-Garcia, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported by Cedar Memorial to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash and removed by Tegelers Towing.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Atkins Fire, and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Vanderwiel.
