Northern Iowa man charged after alleged jail cell vandalism spree

DECORAH, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man faces charges after an alleged jail cell vandalism spree.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says that on the evening of June 4, 2018, 31-year-old Samuel Melver of Cresco decided to do some damage to property while in they jail. While incarcerated in the Winneshiek County Jail, Melver intentionally tried to flush his jail issued uniform down the toilet. Melver also urinated all over his cell block destroying his mattress and pillow.

As a result, Melver was cited for criminal mischief 5th degree. He’s been jailed for violation of a no-contact order, marijuana possession, and disrupting a courtroom.

  1. should have left him in the cell with a clogged toilet and let him use his hands to clean it out and then he could have jumped in his piss soaked bed and had a nap.
