iowadotlogoAMES, Iowa – March 4, 2013; 3:15 p.m. update – Roadways along the Iowa/Minnesota border, as well as parts of north central and northeast Iowa, are being reported by the Iowa State Patrol as partially covered with ice and snow. A band of light snow and patchy freezing drizzle is passing over the region this afternoon.

The second part of this winter storm will arrive this evening and bring moderate to heavy snowfall to northeast and east central Iowa into early Tuesday. North to northwest winds will increase on Tuesday with some blowing and drifting expected. This round of snow is likely to impact the Tuesday morning commute with another 3, to perhaps as much as 8, inches of snow possible.

Multiple National Weather Service winter storm warnings have been issued for counties in Iowa, including one that expires at noon Tuesday for north central and east central; and the other in the far northeast corner of the state at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
