CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man passed away after an auto accident in town this past weekend.
The accident happened on the evening of Saturday, March 3, 2018. Charles City police responded to the 1100 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of a single-vehicle accident there. Police say 75-yer-old Nickalos McDaniel, age 75 of Charles City, was traveling northbound on South Grand Avenue in a 1993 gold GMC Sierra pickup when he struck a pole. The vehicle was a total loss, and there was $500 damage to the light post, police say.
McDaniel was transported to the Floyd County Medical Center by AMR ambulance. He passed away that day.
