MASON CITY – Tayana Wilson connected on a free-throw line jump shot with 1.5 seconds remaining to lift No. 2 Kirkwood to a 70-68 victory over No. 13 NIACC in an ICCAC women’s basketball contest Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.

NIACC had tied the contest with six seconds remaining with a deep 3-point goal by Taylor Laabs.

Kirkwood called timeout after the Laabs’ triple and were able to advance the ball to half court and remained perfect in conference play with Wilson’s game-winning jump shot.

Kirkwood (23-3 overall) improved to 9-0 in league play and won for the 13th straight time. The Eagles also snapped NIACC’s 15-game home-court winning streak.

NIACC (19-6, 6-3) was led by freshman Mikayla Homola with 13 points. Also in double figures for the Lady Trojans were Laabs with 12 points and Morgan Frank with 11 points.

Cici Kieger scored nine points for the Lady Trojans.

NIACC returns to action Saturday at Iowa Central.
