READLYN — Amy Lynn Brown, 51, of Readlyn and formerly of Poweshiek County, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 1, 2026, at her mother’s home.
A private family celebration of Amy’s life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to the homes of her sons at 1933 Spencer Street, Grinnell, Iowa 50112, or 508 South 8th Avenue East, Newton, Iowa 50208.
Amy was born November 16, 1974, in Grinnell, the daughter of Pauline Jones and Russell Paul Brown. She received her education in the Grinnell schools.
She worked for many years at Jeld-Wen Windows & Doors in Grinnell before becoming a caretaker for her father.
Amy found happiness in nature and had a special love for animals. She enjoyed tending to her garden, raising chickens and spending time on the farm. She was also an avid reader who appreciated relaxing with a good book.
Above all, Amy treasured her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved, especially her granddaughter, Sterling.
Amy is survived by her sons, Richard Allen of Newton and Nathan Sparks and his wife, Karlee, of Grinnell; granddaughter, Sterling Sparks of Grinnell; mother, Pauline Jones of Readlyn; father, Russell Brown of Kellogg; brother, Andrew Hauersperger and his wife, Krystal, of Fairbank; nieces, Avery and Evelyn Hauersperger of Fairbank; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
