NIACC wins two events at Wartburg indoor meet

WAVERLY – NIACC sophomore Blake Keller won the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 39.67 seconds Saturday at the Chelsey M Henkenius Indoor Open on the Wartburg College campus.

The NIACC men also won the distance medley relay in a time of 10:41.01. The Trojans ran Keller, Ethan Klasi, Akahnni Delgado and Brian Jacques.
NIACC placed sixth in the team standings. Indian Hills was the men’s team champion with 130 points.

Also for NIACC on Saturday, Timothi McMaster was fourth in the 60 (7.15) and ninth in the 200 (23.32). David Carter was fourth in the 600 (1:25.64).

In the 800, Jacques was sixth (2:03.05) and Daniel Hennigar was seventh (2:07.37).

In the 1,000, Canyon Kuhlmann was sixth in 2:52.02.

The NIACC women placed seventh with 23 points. Host Wartburg was the women’s team champion with 228 points.

Freshman Jaylynn Scrivner won the 200 in a time of 27.19.

Also for the Lady Trojans, sophomore Keisha Gonzague was sixth in the 800 (2:40.22) and sophomore Amy Fullerton was seventh in 2:45.21.

In the 400, freshman Erin Schwarzkopf was ninth (1:08.09).

The NIACC track and field teams return to action Friday at the UNI Invitational in the UNI-Dome.
