BRITT – A Britt man died Sunday evening after a motorcycle accident.
According to a report, at about 6 PM Sunday, 41 year-old Tony Lee Wright was east bound on 225th Street about 1 mile west of Britt operating a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he attempted to pass a John Deere tractor operated by 37 year-old David Eisenman of Indianola, Iowa. The report states that Wright struck the plow that was being pulled by the tractor.
Wright died as a result of the accident.
The Britt Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
I also knew Tony very well..workd with him.Was a very special man. Sooo sad that the heart of Iowa is farming but alot of accidents happen because of farming.Should be more lights and laws.
My grandpa was a farmer. We all redsect farmers but i too almost lost my life with my fiancee because of a combine. Was travelin on a blacktop,a combine coming towards us..only had 2 small orange lights on front. Why dont they have headlights on while on the road also.Thank god there was a field inlet to pull off to..Otherwise i wouldnt be here either.
It’s a little late for finger pointing, at this point it doesn’t really matter who was at fault. Mr. Wright is deceased & I’m sure the farmer involved is beside himself. Two families are changed forever, how tragic.
We should make set times farmers can move tractors and trailers. If it’s too much trouble, leave the dang tractor in the field until you can get it.
If there were set, limited times farmers were on the roads, we could plan ahead and avoid those times.
Thank you WCS, please show some respect people. He was a good man that touched a lot of people and will be missed by many.
Sam,
The farmer is originally from Britt, lives in Indianola which is close to where he works full time. He and his family own farm ground around the Britt area and he comes home to do field work. He was on his way from field to field near Britt when this happened. Get your facts straigt before you make these comments.
THE FARMER BEING SO FAR FROM HOME ALMOST MAKES ME THINK HE WAS JUST DRIVING AROUND THE STATE SO THAT MOTORCYCLES COULD RUN INTO HIS PLOW
the reason some of you post without using your real name is so people won’t know how dumb you really are
The driver of the tractor is also from Britt. He has just not renewed his DL.
Let’s show a little respect, people. This young man is deceased. Who knows if he leaves behind a wife, children or even grandchildren? No need for snide comments at a time like this.
Real bright, this throttle jockey. Condolences to his family.
how do you know it was Tony’s fault? What if while passing the oversized plow crossed over center line to go around a mailbox?
Point being you don’t know
And maybe an alien in a ufo used his road narrowing ray to funnel the motorcycle into the back of the plow, or maybe the driver of the tractor used telekinetic powers to make him drive erratically and have the accident. How it happened is really irrelevant. The sad thing is he was killed. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family.
you are an idiot. you have no idea if he was on the throttle too hard or what actually happened. don’t be so cavalier and judgemental when you do not know the whole story. Tony was a good man, a good friend. he left behind a son and family and friends who will forever miss him!
